Debonair Discs

Ben Harpwood

Ben Harpwood is a busy jazz and swing singer from Birmingham, UK.

He performs alone at functions and festivals around the country as One Man Frank, entertaining crowds with his humour and easy way with the public as much as his flawless baritone voice. He also has a set of self-penned satirical takes on swing classics that he performs at cabaret evenings and shows.

Ben's regular accompanist is jazz pianist Richard Hughes, and they have been performing as a 2-5 piece band called The Debonairs for over a decade. Comprising some of Birmingham's most well-respected jazz musicians, The Debonairs can mould themselves to any event, regularly following sets of their more accustomed swing and jazz with Michael Jackson and Ray Charles to get the party started.

Ben's love of vintage music began at around the age of ten when he would snap up Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra on vinyl for pennies and amassed quite a collection. While his friends were listening to 80s and 90s pop, Ben spent his teenage years wishing he's been born 50 years before! The recent resurgence of the UK vintage scene has been a dream come true!
